Life Without School Post: Answering the Question, “How Do You Homeschool?”

My post is up at Life Without School called, Answering the Question, “How Do You Homeschool?” At a community meeting, I ended up in a conversation with a woman who was interesting in learning information about seriously considering homeschooling her daughter, and the article is about that conversation, the things I shared, and the things I find hard to help others understand in such conversations.

Sorry I haven’t been on for a while to update a post on my own blog here. Life has become so busy, particularly as we have taken a couple of family trips. I’ll try to get back into the swing of things here soon. I’m trying to catch up on my e-mail lists as well.

  1. Excellent article! In a concise way, you reflected SO much of yourself, your wealth of experience, your philosophy and your ideas, along with a peek at the heart of unschooling/home schooling. I agree that an educational system is designed to meet the needs of contemporary society (rather than an individual child). I also agree that this does not make it “wrong.” It simply means that we don’t have to assume that what the system offers is what is “best” for every individual child.

  2. I’m interested in reading this article, BUT it won’t load on my computer properly! Everything is in the left sidebar which, in itself isn’t a big deal, BUT the lines of the article are all incomplete!. This has happened at other times too with this site.

I’m using Safari on a Mac. I haven’t had this problem with any of the other typepad blogs that I visit. Thought you might like a heads up on this problem…

  3. Same problem here, Taffy, and also using Safari on a Mac. No other blogs do that, just that one. It is something in the coding of the template.

  4. They are now looking into it at the LWOS site through Typepad. Thanks for letting me know so I could pass it on to the moderator!

  5. It’s probabl the flash slideshows.

  6. Great article Cindy! I just viewed it on my MAC, with firefox, fine.
